SANDY's BUTTERFLY DESIGN ACCEPTED FOR "WINGS IN THE CITY"

Back in March artists submitted designs for a public art project called WINGS IN THE CITY. Wings, a BJC pediatric hospice and palliative care program, is sponsoring a citywide project showcasing over fifty decorated butterflies throughout our community next Spring to call attention to and raise funds for their Expressive Therapy Program.

Wings is a nonprofit organization that provides palliative and hospice care to children who have progressive or life-threatening illnesses, regardless of the family's ability to pay. It is the only program of its kind in our area to aid patients and families and help minimize the fear and maximize the joy during a difficult time as they deal with their health issues.

Forty-three artists were selected by jurors:

  • Tricia Paik (Asst. Curator Modern and Contemporary Art, St. Louis Art Museum)
  • Marilu Knode (Laumeier Sculpture Park)
  • Eric Thoelke (TOKY)
  • Duane Reed (Duane Reed Gallery)
  • Sarah Colby (BJC Arts in Healing Program).
